Pulmonary Rehabilitation
If you have a chronic respiratory problem, shortness of
breath may be frightening, frustrating, and limiting.
When your breathing is compromised, your entire lifestyle
and well-being are affected.
The pulmonary rehabilitation is one of many programs
available through the Heart Center of the Piedmont at
Danville Regional Medical Center. The program is designed
with you in mind and assists you in developing ways
to function better and improve your quality of life
despite your breathing condition.
The program is comprised of two main components, patient
education and exercise conditioning. These programs
work together towards achieving goals that include,
the understanding of your breathing problem, to improve
your level of independent functioning, to reduce the
need for hospitalization and medial cost, and to improve
the overall quality of life.
The program is supplemental to and not a replacement
for your doctor's care. Progress reports are provided
to you and your doctor. The program requires a doctor's
referral and a majority of the cost is covered by most
insurance companies and Medicare.
