Friends of Pastoral Care
The Role of the Friends of Pastoral Care shall be:
to support the ministry of Pastoral Care for patients,
family members, and staff
to
develop learning experiences for ministers and DRMC
personnel in the art and science of ministering to the
sick and troubled;
to
recruit, select, and train individuals to provide pastoral
care, supplying:
approval for participation (to be performed by sub-committee)
orientation and on-going training
policy guidelines and job description
enabling resources
to
advise DRMC Administration and/or Board Members of any
matter of concern related to the spiritual welfare of
patients and staff
The Membership of the Friends of Pastoral Care
shall:
consist of persons with a commitment of time, energy,
and effort, to achieve the purposes of the Board. It
shall include, but not be limited to, representatives
from:
Administration
Case
Management
Area
Clergy
DRMC
Full-time Chaplain
Medical
Staff Member
DRMC
Nursing Staff
DRMC
Board of Directors
DRMC
Patient Relations
Board Members shall be elected by the Pastoral Care
Advisory Board.
Meetings
The membership will meet at least twice yearly. Members
serve a three-year term with one possible reappointment.
After completing two consecutive three-year terms, the
member shall rotate off for a minimum of one year before
being eligible to serve for another two consecutive
three-year term. Terms shall be staggered with one-third
of the Board turning over each year. Board terms run
on a calendar year basis.
Relationship to DRMC
The Board exercises its functions subject to the administrative
and personnel policies of Danville Regional Medical
Center and its Board of Directors, and in support of
the intentions and purposes of the Medical Center as
defined by the Board and implemented by its administration.
Associate Chaplains are considered part of the patient
care team, working in collaboration and mutual support
with medical and nursing staff.
Evaluation
It is the responsibility of the Board to annually evaluate
the Associate Chaplains Program and report its findings
to the Vice-President of Planning and Marketing.
The Board will report the degree to which the program's
purposes and objectives were met, which may include
recommendations for improvement.
Quorum
Decisions made by the Board must be approved by a simple
majority of Board members.
