Options to consider before coming to the emergency room:

Many
common health problems can be cared for in the home.
If you are not sure,
Call
you family physician if during normal business hours.
Your
family physician can often help determine the best approach
to getting the treatment you need.
After
hours, call Danville Regional Medical Center's The Nurse Line
help line.
The
Nurse Line is staffed by Registered Nurses 24 hours
a day, seven days a week, specially trained to provide
a variety of information.
Go
to the Emergency Room
Conditions
that typically require emergency medical care include
chest pain, difficulty breathing, unexpected numbness,
weakness, and/or difficulty talking, sudden severe headaches,
or a serious injury with uncontrollable bleeding.
Note: The emergency department treats
patients according to the acuity (severity) of their
conditions. Patients requiring the most immediate attention
will be treated first.
Tips for Coming to the Emergency
Department
Be prepared to answer some questions upon arriving
to the emergency department:
Explain your health condition first and provide
as much information about the events that have brought
you in for treatment
Be calm
Be sure to bring a list of any medications
that you are currently taking and
During registration it is important to provide
your legal name, address, telephone number, employer,
and your insurance card.
Be sure to provide information on past conditions
and any known allergies
