Emergency Services
The emergency department at Danville Regional Medical
Center offers the areas only fulltime emergency department
open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Emergency medical
treatment is dependent not only on the facilities and
technology, but the dedicated ED healthcare professionals
providing the care you need. The state of the art unit
features two trauma rooms and 20 acute care beds. An isolation
room serves two kinds of patients, those who are likely
to get an infection or those who have highly communicable
conditions, such as tuberculosis. In the event of exposure
to hazardous chemicals, a decontamination room is available
for treatment. For patients with broken bones, strains
and sprains, the emergency department offers a semiprivate
orthopedic treatment room.
Fast Track is a particular area in the emergency department
that is dedicated to serving patients with less urgent
emergency needs and features six specialty rooms. Patients
with minor emergencies going through Fast Track fit
into a streamlined triage process that allows for more
prompt care and return to normal activity.
The staffs of the emergency department and Fast Track
are committed to constantly improving on its services
and finding new and more efficient ways of delivering
emergency medical care to the community. Please remember
that in an emergency room environment, treatment is
not on a first-come, first-served basis. Patients are
triaged (screened) according to the severity (acuteness)
of a patient's condition. Patients presenting with the
most severe conditions and requiring immediate attention
will be treated first.
More than 50, 000 patients were treated last year in
the emergency department at Danville Regional Medical
Center.
