Community to benefit from skills of new neurosurgeon

Danville Regional is fortunate to now have neurosurgeon Katrina Murphy, MC, PhD, on it's medical staff.

Dr. Murphy, who practices with Drs. Joel Singer and Nicholas Poulos at Southside Neurosurgical Associates, PC, comes to Danville from Baltimore, where she completed her residency at the University of Maryland. Originally from Los Angeles, Dr. Murphy is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego Medical School.

"I have been extremely pleased with the technology and surgical facilities at Danville Regional. I've found the same top-of-the-line technology at DRMC that I trained on at the University of Maryland. It's nice to enjoy that familiarity and I appreciate being able to practice with access to state-of-the-art technology and equipment.

Dr. Murphy's focus encompasses most areas of neurosurgery - from intracranial disease to spinal disorders. Dr. Mruphy is also interested in many areas of neuroscience, having earned a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Maryland.

"The people here are so friendly," she said. "They've been wonderful - very open and gracious. I'm looking forward to building my practice here."
