"We can perform almost any orthopedic procedure
here in Danville"
from Better Health magazine, Spring,
2004
The physicians
at Danville Orthopedic Clinic, Inc. (DOC), take pride
in the wide variety of orthopedic procedures they perform.
"I can think of only a very few complex surgeries
that
we don't do right here at Danville Regional Medical
Center," said Otis Rose, Administrator of the Clinic.
The orthopedic surgeons have access to the outstanding
facilities available at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Well-equipped surgical suites and experienced O.R. staff
ensure that they have all the tools to provide excellent
care.
"Our physicians have performed more than 3,000
joint replacements, for example," he said. If anyone
tells you that you need to go out of town to have an
orthopedic procedure done, you need to check with us
for a second
opinion."
The newest physician to join the practice in Jonathan
Krome, MD, a specialist in sports medicine. Dr. Krome
was team physician for the Atlanta Braves, and he's
already talked to the Danville Braves about assuming
a similar position here. Team trainers at local schools
and sports organizations are looking forward to this
new resource in the community.
While most people see an orthopedist only after problems
start, the Clinic takes pride in its emphasis on preventative
care. "For example, you don't see many orthopedists
take as much interest
in osteoporosis as we do. We make patients aware of
this commonly under-diagnosed disease and we perform
bone density scans when it is advisable."
Rose states, "We have three Physician Assistants
and they work very closely with our physicians here
at DOC. Together, there will always be someone available
to address a patient's pain or orthopedic concern. We
welcome walk-in visits for acute injuries and patients
do not have to get a referral to be seen by one of our
qualified providers."
