Community Blood Needs Being Met by Danville Regional Blood Donor Center and You!
from Better Health magazine, Spring,
2004
Jackie Jones, Blood Donor Coordinator, Danville Regional's Blood Donor Center, feels it's important for area residents to be aware of two key facts.
First,
the blood you donate to the Blood Donor Program is used
to meet the needs of your friends, neighbors, and loved
ones in our community. Second, don't assume you can't
give blood; assume you can unless you're told otherwise
by a trained donor technician.
"Potential donors feel they can't donate blood
because they have high blood pressure, are taking medications,
or they have a conditions such as diabetes. The fact
is, in most of these instances, many of these individuals
can donate blood. I encourage anyone who's interested
in donating blood to visit or call the Danville Regional
Blood Donor Center to see if you are eligible."
Research shows 60 percent of the population can donate
blood, but less than five percent do.
"Our Lifemobile (mobile donor center) is out in
the community at least twice a week for blood drives.
The Blood Donor Center, located in the Danville Regional
Professional Building, 201 South Main Street, Danville,
is open Monday, Thursday and Friday, 8:30 am until 4:00
pm, Tuesday and Wednesday, 10:00 am until 5:30 pm. No
appointment necessary.
Call the Danville Regional Blood Donor Center (434)
799-3743 and select option #1 with specific questions
or concerns about donating blood or select option #4
to schedule a blood drive.
Be a good friend to someone here in the Dan River Region
- become a blood donor."
