Stratford House Provides the Comforts of Home - Without the Work. Making new friends and a place to call home.
from Better Health magazine, Summer, 2003
When Tom and Marjorie Parrish decided on Stratford House for their retirement home, they were relieved to no longer have to maintain a large piece of property. "No lawns to mow, weekly housekeeping provided, and a very nice dining room so my wife doesn't have to cook every evening," said Tom.
Stratford House, located in the Danville Historic District, provides a wealth of amenities for a relaxing lifestyle. A well stocked library, a computer room with Internet access, a fitness center and exercise classes, and a game and card room provide activities for a variety of interests. Other amenities include a private movie theater, social lounge and bar, and private dining room.
But with all the amenities, it's the friendliness and feeling of family that have most impressed resident Christine Walker. Her three sons did the research, and told their mom they believed Stratford House was her best choice. "The staff goes out of its way to make sure you're happy," she said, "and they all seem to enjoy their jobs. I have transportation to the store, to my doctor's office, they take care of so many details. And I have people to talk to, play cards with - I feel like I'm surrounded by friends."
Tom Bailey a resident for a year and a half, says Stratford House is "The next best thing to home. I don't have family in Danville, but I've lived here for a long time and knew friends already living at Stratford House. Here, you can be as private or as active as you want to be," he said. "I don't have to keep up a house, I have a fine dining room for dinner, and my apartment has seven windows so I never feel cramped."
