Heart Center Passes Milestone
from Better Health magazine, Summer, 2003
Earlier this summer the Heart Center of the Piedmont completed its 50th open-heart surgery procedure, according to Lee Higginbotham, Director of Cardiovascular Services.
"Everyone has had nothing but praise for Dr. Henry Tripp and the superb staff we've assembled," said Higginbotham. "We're in touch with each patient 48 hours after they're discharged from the hospital to make sure they're progressing well. The next step is cardiac rehab, and we've already had a couple of our earliest patients complete that program."
Recently, a mini-reunion was held with the surgical team and the first 10 cardiac surgery patients. "There was great appreciation in that room," said Higginbotham. "The patients obviously were grateful for the skilled care they received from our team. But it was clear that our staff was also appreciative of the faith placed in them by those who had such serious health problems. So far the experience on both sides has been exemplary."
