Almost 10,000 reasons to have confidence in surgery at Danville Regional.
from Better Health magazine, Fall, 2003
Hip replacement. Endoscopy. Open-heart. Every day, leading-edge surgical procedures are being performed in the 15 surgical suites at Danville Regional.
"Last year we did more than 9,900 surgeries," said Kathy Dalton, RN, MSN, Directory of Surgical Services and Endoscopy. "And about 60 percent of them were orthopedic surgery."
There are many good reasons why so many orthopedic procedures are performed at Danville Regional. "We are fortunate to have outstanding surgeons, not just in orthopedics but across the board," said Kathy. "An independent outside evaluation firm has given us some of the highest ratings possible on our total joint replacement surgeries. That's just one example that confirms what people around here know."Danville Regional dedicates specific surgical rooms to common procedures, so necessary equipment is on hand at all times. Among these are ear, nose, and throat procedures, endoscopies, and gynecological surgery. Of course, one of the newest and most advanced procedures performed at Danville Regional is open-heart surgery. "There's no question that Danville Regional Medical Center now has the largest surgical capacity and leading technology throughout the Dan River Region," says Kathy.
Though her job requires her to see the big picture, it's still personal to Kathy. "My daddy has had heart problems in the past, and we know that a bypass is probably the next step. I'm proud that the Heart Center of the Piedmont is the kind of place where I can be very comfortable with his treatment. We have a very caring staff that gives so much of themselves. Whether it's for your dad or any other member of your family, the care is first class. You want the best for your family, and you get it here."
