with type 2 diabetes who ate a high-fiber diet - 50 grams
a day - not only lowered their cholesterol level, but also their
blood glucose level. Foods rich in fiber include whole grains and
fruits and vegetables such as cantaloupe, grapefruit, raisins, lima beans,
sweet potatoes, and zucchini.

eight-year study examined the effect of moderate exercise on women's
stroke risk. Participants were female nurses ages 40 to 65. The
more hours a week they swam, biked, ran, jogged, played tennis, or walked
briskly, the less likely they were to have a stroke.
