Danville Regional Health Foundation

Danville Regional Health Foundation
is dedicated to providing a healthier future for the people in our community. Your generous support can ensure that future generations experience all the joys - and benefits - of good health.

Good health is one of life's most wonderful blessings. With it, we can develop visions for the future - and work to make those dreams reality. Without it, we are unable to contribute successfully to the greater good.

Mission
The mission of the Danville Regional Health Foundation is to promote a healthier community.

Why was the Danville Regional Health Foundation established?
The Danville Regional Health Foundation was created to help the citizens of our region live healthier and more productive lives. To do so, we must increase and enhance the healthcare services and programs currently available in our community. To this end, the Health Foundation has established the Healthy Community Fund to offer much needed support for worthy health initiatives. Other funds provide long-term support for the hospital's continuing medical education, the Danville Regional Medical Center School of Health Professions Nursing Program, and the Foundation House.

What is the Healthy Community Fund?

The Healthy Community Fund was created to support health initiatives of tax-exempt public or private agencies in the City of Danville, Pittsylvania County, and Caswell County. Since 1998, Danville Regional Health Foundation has contributed more than $1 million to the community through the Healthy Community Fund.

Funding priority is given to innovative projects that address community health issues, particularly:

  • drug and alcohol abuse
  • teen pregnancy
  • healthier lifestyles
  • basic healthcare for all
  • health education

Projects should:

  • target under served groups
  • aim to reduce health risks
  • receive at least 25% of funding from sources other than the Health Foundation
  • have a continuation plan and method for assessing effectiveness

Requests are reviewed semi-annually with submission deadlines of April 1 and October 1.

How can organizations apply to the Healthy Community Fund?

Applications should include:

  • Cover letter describing amount of funding requested
  • How the funding will be used

  • Mission, vision, and goal statements
  • IRS determination letter
